On behalf of the Summerside Lobster Carnival Executive and
the hundreds of volunteers who work so very hard to ensure a memorable
experience for all, I would like to welcome you to the Summerside Lobster
Carnival Presented by Red Shores.
This year marks our 57th Anniversary of the
Lobster Carnival and we have a wonderful celebration planned. There will be something for everyone, young
and old alike from the cultural, educational and culinary delights of the
Lobster Suppers to the Lobster Gala featuring guests who have achieved
greatness at some point in their lifetime.
Don’t miss the Family Fun Day at the Credit Union place or the new
events Beats on the Streets, and Keep the Pot Boiling which will both feature
Island talent. The parade being planned is sure not to disappoint for yet
another year. The 2012 Summerside
Lobster Carnival Talent Competition and Showcase presented by The Journal
Pioneer promises to be another amazing event showcasing a high calibre of
talents by young Prince Edward Island performers, in music, dance and drama as
well as a “blast from the past”.
This year marks the 41st Anniversary of the
Downtown Summerside Sidewalk Sale which boasts a full roster of local talent
from across the Island and the streets will be packed with many vendors displaying
great bargains. Other events include the
always popular Master Packaging SOS Cardboard Boat Race, The Rotary Spelling
Bee, Lobsterbowl Step Dancing Competition presented by Harbourfront Theatre,
Lobster Trap Challenge, Country Gospel and Strawberry Social, and Horseshoe
Pitching Competition. The Summerside Lobster Carnival holds a special place in the hearts of Summerside
Legion, Summerside Rotary Club, and the City of Summerside as well as the
hearts of Islanders and tourists who participate in this annual celebration.
I invite you to come and join in this wonderful celebration
within our community, and extend a warm thank you to our partners, volunteers,
and carnival goers from all over who join us every year to share in the good
times and build memories that will last a lifetime.
